$5,000 Bitcoin Contest Rules, Terms and Conditions

Contest: Forecast the price of Bitcoin on December 31, 2018.

Prize: $5,000 in Bitcoin (BTC)

Eligibility: You must be 18 years or older to enter. Anyone can participate except for employees, agents, and consultants of Weiss Ratings, LLC and affiliates, as well as their immediate family members or household members. No purchase is necessary. However, participants must first register for, and attend, the Weiss Ratings event of Wednesday, March 21, 2018, “Weiss Ratings Crypto Forecast.” At that event, participants will receive critical information to help inform their forecast. And following the event, participants will be given the needed instructions to complete their entry. Participants will be required to enter their name, email address and phone contact information. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM Eastern Time U.S. March 31, 2018.

Disqualification: Only one entry per person is allowed. If it is determined at any time that a single individual has submitted more than one entry under the same email address or even under different email addresses, that participant will be disqualified.

Selection of winner: On or before Monday, January 7, 2019, the winning entry will be decided by a committee composed of three Weiss Ratings analysts. They will compare (a) the last price for Bitcoin reported by Coinbase.com for December 31, 2018 (“BTC price”) and (b) the forecast price for Bitcoin provided by contest participants (“BTC forecast”). The contest participant with the BTC forecast closest to the BTC price will be declared the winner, regardless of whether the BTC forecast is lower or higher than the BTC price. If two or more contest participants provide the same winning forecast and complete the delivery process described below, the prize will be divided equally among them. To avoid a tie, contest participants are encouraged to provide their forecast in terms of a single price including dollars AND cents — in other words, with two decimal places greater than 00. No judgement or complex analysis will be used in the selection process. The winner will be selected based strictly on the objective, quantitative criteria described above.

Contacting contest winner(s): The contest winner (or winners in the case of a tie) will receive notification via email on or before January 8, 2019 and will be requested to acknowledge receipt of the email. If the winner does not acknowledge receipt, Weiss Ratings will seek to reach the winner via phone and continue doing so until 5PM Eastern Time U.S. Thursday, January 31, 2019. It is the winner’s responsibility to provide a valid, deliverable email address and phone number to Weiss Ratings, LLC. If the winner has not responded or cannot be reached by that time, the prize will be awarded to the first runner-up (the contest participant who provided the next closest BTC forecast). If the first runner up does not respond or cannot be reached, the same process of will be repeated in the month of February to contact the second runner up, and so forth.

Delivery of prize: Winner will be asked to fill out a Winner’s Affidavit and Release before prize will be delivered. The contest winner(s) must provide a valid wallet or exchange address for delivery of the Bitcoin. Weiss Ratings will then purchase USD 5,000 in Bitcoin and send it to that address, less any transaction or transfer fees. The contest winner(s) must provide a correct address. If an incorrect address is provided, Weiss Ratings will not be responsible for any loss. Due to fees and other factors beyond Weiss Ratings’ control, the net amount of Bitcoin received may be somewhat less than $5,000. Prize is subject to, and winner is responsible for, federal, state and local income taxes. Weiss Ratings, LLC is not responsible for the payment of any taxes associated with the prize. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

Disclaimer: (i) By participating, participants (and winner(s), by accepting a prize) release Weiss Ratings, LLC and each of their respective directors, officers, partners, employees and agents, including advertising, public relations, direct marketing and promotion agencies, from any and all liability with respect to participation in the promotion and possession or use of the prize awarded and also acknowledge that they did not receive any representations, warranty or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, condition or fitness; (ii) Weiss Ratings, LLC reserves the right to modify or amend these Rules at any time; (iii) Weiss Ratings, LLC retains the right, in its absolute and sole discretion, to make substitution of equivalent kind and approximate value in the event of the unavailability of the prize for any reason whatsoever.

Chances of winning: There are two factors that may affect the chances of winning: (1) The forecast acumen or accuracy of each participant, and (2) the number of participants. In addition, Weiss Ratings believes that attendance of the free event, “Weiss Ratings Crypto Forecast” of March 21, 2018 can increase the contest participant’s likelihood of winning.
